Immolation

Evocation (Fire)

Level: Sor/Wiz 5

Components: V, S

Range: Touch

Target: One Creature

Duration: 1 round/level

Saving Throw: None (See Text)

Spell Resistance: Yes

You cover your target in a covering them in a layer of fire. The target of this spell takes 1 point of damage/caster level (maximum 10 points of damage) per round that this spell is in effect. The next time anyone strikes the target in melee, the attacker suffers 1d6 points of fire damage per caster level (maximum 15d6). The person (or thing) taking the damage must make a Reflex save for half damage from this spell.

What do you think of it.

Sounds fine.
Maybe you should change so that it does not reduces the AC but it deals YOU a little fire damage every round (1 damage/level ?) It will give more flavor.

A couple of questions spring to mind:

If the damage is 1/level/round, and you have to be 9th level to cast it, what's the point of capping the damage at 10/round?

When someone strikes the immolated creature, is the spell dispelled?

no the spell keeps going so if the person keeps hiting the target they keep taking damage (even thow they would learn quik to stay away from the spell).

Its maxed at 10 points for its mostly flaver for the spell (but it can be a problem if it the spell gose on for 20 rounds).
