Spell made as Ring?

Question came up while making a ring; the spell put on the ring is Raging Flame (SpC) which is normally an area spell, when put in a ring does it still generate the area of effect or will it only work on the wearer?
If the former, can it be made to only work on the wearer?

What do you mean, spell made as a ring? Are you talking about a Ring of Spellstoring, or about a new custom magic item?

If the former, spells in a Ring of Spellstoring can be "cast" by the wearer - so it's just as if the guy who put the spell into the ring cast them, but the wearer gets to choose the variables (target/s, point of origin for AoEs etc.).

If the latter, make something up. It's a new magic item, you can pretty much just come up with what you want it to do. However, some magic items using a certain spell may be more powerful than others based on the same spell, so you should reflect that in the item's price tag.

New custom magic item to have the spell effect of Raging Flame continuously as a ring - I'd prefer it be centered on myself as the actual spell range is 30' radius and it would affect all fires (friendly and foe) in the area.

We've worked out the price, (True Strike items, to include the bow, are banned in our games unless the price tag is absurd) just didn't know and wasn't able to find any ruling on how an area spell would translate into a magic item like this.

When creating a new magic item, the rule is: Check with your DM. Custom items are under the dm's purview.

I would have ruled that it worked just like the spell, but yes, always check with your DM.
