Spell Mastery - good choice for Wiz 18 or 20? Which spells?

Prima facie, it seems that Spell Mastery is an obvious choice for an 18th level wizard. Especially if you can take Wish as one of the spells. Such a mage wouldn't have to worry about losing his spell books.

Suppose you have an INT of 26 (base of 21, with an Inherent +5 bonus). You've probably got a +6 Enhancement item too, but that doesn't count. So you can take 8 spells. What spells would you take?

How about:

Wish
Limited Wish
Greater Dispel Magic
Greater Teleport
Some attack spell - Polar Ray?
Disintegrate
Shapechange
Telekinesis

A wizard I once played picked the feat at 5th level... Spell Mastery (Scorching Ray, Locate Object, Arcane Sight, Polymorph, Teleport). Yes, that's legal. ;)

So I guess the basic idea is the same here... pick a travel spell, an attack spell, spells to help getting your spellbook back, and otherwise just multi-purpose spells to allow you to function somewhat decently, while the spellbook is gone.

At 18th level, you should have multiple copies of your spellbook, anyways, hidden in various places. :)

For the attack spell, I would probably pick Orb of Force (also a good spell choice for Signature Spell).

Greater Blink seems to be a pretty good choice in general as well (not as an attack spell, of course).
Maybe Analyze Dweomer could also be considered.

Those are very good choices, save that they are all high level spells. I'd suggest throwing in a couple low level spells, such as Magic Missile, Invisibility, and/or Fireball. Otherwise you might lose your spellbook and find that you have nothing to prepare in all of your low level spell slots.

Hmm, I would say (PHB only)

Limited Wish so you can get all the others if needed
Teleport as it is 2 levels lower than greater, so more useful.
Blink or greater blink (Moving through walls is very nice)
Call Weapon if you have arcane strike as a feat and can fight decently
Fabricate to make items for everyone else. (Or the highest version you can live with.)
***Hmm, we need a sword, let's craft a sword out of thiose Iron bars the Half-orc
canonot push through. Look two uses at once.
Magic Missle or your favorite lesser orb spell (If you have reserve feats or soemthing that
boosts one kind of energy

Some spell that will kick with your reserve feat. Like Delayed blast fireball if you have fiery burst. Or Polar Ray for Winter's Blast

If you worry about losing your spellbook, A reserve Feat and the appropriate spell is almost required.

Why not. The feat description doesn't say anything about excluding enhancement bonusses.
I don't allow it because it's a temporary (though prolonged until the item is lost) bonus, not a permanent one. Would you allow the character +2 spells (for +4 INT) if he were 3rd level and receiving the benefit of a Fox's Cunning spell? Of course you wouldn't. The same applies.

This is why the effects of Fox's Cunning are spelled out:

The transmuted creature becomes smarter. The spell grants a +4 enhancement bonus to Intelligence, adding the usual benefits to Intelligence-based skill checks and other uses of the Intelligence modifier. Wizards (and other spellcasters who rely on Intelligence) affected by this spell do not gain any additional bonus spells for the increased Intelligence, but the save DCs for spells they cast while under this spell’s effect do increase. This spell doesn’t grant extra skill points.
even the headband of intellect says:

The headband adds to the wearer’s Intelligence score in the form of an enhancement bonus of +2, +4, or +6. This enhancement bonus does not earn the wearer extra skill points when a new level is attained; use the unenhanced Intelligence bonus to determine skill points.
So it looks like the feat is affected by any magic item worn.
