Spell Range and Area

Some [ulr=http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/re/re20021007a]new spells[/ur] are up on the Wizards website, and it looks to me like the designers made a mistake. Let me know if I'm wrong here.

A couple of the spells affect a large area (100' or 200' radius), but have only Close range (25' + 5'/2 levels). IIRC, no part of a spell's effect can extend outside the Range, so you couldn't possibly affect that 100' spread until you reached 150th caster level.

Did the designer screw up, or am I on crack?

you're right AuraSeer. i think the author goofed when these spells were posted (or created). i think the two Trackless Domain spells should have a long range, or a range equal to the effect of the spell, like control weather.

Trackless Domain

range: 100'
area: 100' radius, centered on you
