Spellblast (sp) - Eldtritch Theurge

The 'targets the caster' bit means you can change the origin point of spells that are normally centered on *you* to be centered on the *target* of your Eldritch Blast.[/QUOTE]

But what spells that has you as target would you want to put on your eldricth blast?

One example that was already given is obscuring mist. Another would be cone of cold.

ok I'm getting it. But with the cone of cold, how would that work? In otherwords you place it on an ememy and a cone of cold comes out from him and attacks those in the path??

I'm annoyed that this reads like the area spell should only affect the target, so a fireball would only damage that one creature. I know what they're trying to say, but I also know there's potential for obtuseness here as well.

It's rather open to interpretation. There's nothing in the Spellblast text that precludes Cone or Line area effects, but the ability seems to assume symmetrical area effects.

Personally, I'd play it that a corner of the target's space becomes the point of origin of the effect, and it extends in any direction the caster chooses. However, a strict reading of the ability would require a corner of the target's space to be at the midpoint of the Line or the centre of the Cone (I'm sure it should be easy enough to find an appropriate formula for determining the centre of a cone or arc). The caster would still choose the orientation of the Cone or Line.

The part about only the first target being affected is, as far as I understand it, intended for blast shape invocations that hit multiple targets, like eldritch chain. Only the first target sets off a fireball; you don't have a fireball going off centered on each and every target. It is not, imo, meant to imply that only the target is affected by the spell at all. That would be completely contradictory to the earlier statement that the spell is centered on a corner of the target's space. If only that target is affected, why say that?
