Spellfire wielder

I have a campaign starting up now where one of the characters is a Wizard 5/ Spellfire Wielder 7.. I was wondering how many levels of stored spellfire energy he should start out with. I was thinking of levels = con.

That depends largely if you allow him to absorb his own not used spells per day... Or he has a friend who may recharge him :( I hate that btw... simply asking a friend for recharge... bah.

I'd say that it would depend on his character's personality. If he unleashes spellfire frequently, go with Constitution Score - 3d6 (allow 0 as a possible result). If he's the type to preserve spellfire to be used as a last resort, or to better hide that he is a wielder, go with Constitution Score - 1d6.

Out of curiousity, how would he do that? Besides, ask yourself this question....would you allow a kir-lanan to heal himself by touching his chest? I wouldn't. :)

Now, if the character had another feat that allowed him to convert unused spell slots into stored spellfire levels (and vice versa), I'd be ok with that.

The friend had to use up a spell for a day, after all. Say your party doesn't have a cleric, but it does have a spellfire wielder and a wizard. Spellfire wielder sucks up a 4th level spell from the wizard, then uses the 4 stored spellfire levels to heal the figher of 8 points of damage. It certainly doesn't replace a cleric and it certainly isn't as effective as a cure critical wounds spell, so what's the harm?

Out of memory, doesn't the Spellfire Wielder PrC allow healing 1d4+1 hp per spellfire level expended? Hence he would heal 4d4+4, or 8-20 hp.

Yup, at 2nd level.

Which still is not 4d8 + 1 per caster level, or 5-39 at minimum caster level of 7. Six spellfire levels would net you 6d4+6, which is nowhere near the effectiveness of heal, whether 3.0 or 3.5.

Hard to know what kind of personality he will have since he technically isn't "alive" yet. I think I'll go for Con score - 2d6, a compromise between the two suggestions.

FYI, technically, you can ONLY absorb spell levels in combat as it takes a readied action which can only happen in combat.

I think that the intent is that you cannot get free recharges from your friends.

I know, but I just figured he would have some levels stored from previous adventures since he is 12th level. Anyway, he stocked up on cheap wands.. 12 50 charge Wand of Lights.. it'll soon be a lot levels stored!
