Spellfire

What the...this thread has gone through 5 or 6 posts without any Realms-bashing? That's a world record around these parts.

Don't forget one thing about spellfire. It my only be choosen at character creation.

In short it got the next disadvantages:
- DM aproval
- only at Char Creation
- Most wanted creature alive
- Only ready action (so no other actions, how big is the chance 1 person will get hit by something? if there are several targets?)
- Fairly low dammage output compared to higher level spells

What spells would be the best for combating this?

Answer: Keen Edge, cast by the bard with a falchion or greatsword weilding, can't be flanked, barbarian buddy. Add in other buffing spells and abilities for flavor.

The best way to shut this rogue down is to hit him with spells when he isn't ready. If he doesn't ready action, he can't absorb. He can't absorb, he can't shoot. It is a very strong feat, but should screw him on occasion.

If I recall correctly, he can't absorb spells that are not directly targeted at him. Like Fireball, Icestorm (very nice spell against (half)rogues, since it has no Save) and similar spells.
And you don't have to rely on spells to kill a character, at least not directly. Teleporting in 2 rogues and 2 fighters/barbarians into a flanking position might be enough use of magic.

Personally, I don't think that Spellfire really supper-powers this character. He is better, but you can shut him down with a little planning, and his enimmies have all the time the world to plan.

Unless, of course, you were running spellfire incorrectly. If so, you should fix that ASAP - it's way too powerful if it works without a Ready Action, and it really requires the RP restriction of making one the target of bounty hunters, wizards attempting to learn its secret. etc.

Are you talking about the FRCS or Magic of Faerun? I looked through my FRCS and there's a write up on spellfire and a couple of mentions of Shandril referenced in the index but I can't seem to find the feat. I don't have Magic of Faerun so I'm guessing that it might be there.

Are you talking about the FRCS or Magic of Faerun? I looked through my FRCS and there's a write up on spellfire and a couple of mentions of Shandril referenced in the index but I can't seem to find the feat. I don't have Magic of Faerun so I'm guessing that it might be there.
