Spelljammer: Starfarers (at last!)

Manabu has been very quiet during the voyage so far. He has listened carefully to Rhamyr and Westenberger, recognizing his own lack of experience. Thankfully, his natural dexterity and his readiness to take orders have helped him quickly fit in with the rest of the crew.

As the verbal confrontation occurs on the deck, Manabu decides to focus his attention in the direction of the blast (Spot +9). Being ambushed in space doesn't sound like a good idea.

Ooc: Apologies for my late arrival. I was watching the recruitment and character threads hoping for some word. I didn't realize that the game had started until today, when I noticed that gamecat's sig had changed.

Tam nods at Caelano: "You want to raise a little havoc, eh?" and then looks at Rhyamyr: "What's the matter, shorts? You don't want to get your sword on? Every slain opponent brings me closer to completing my purpose!"

Manabu: The explosion was purplish-blue, and at the center, you see two twinkles that appear to be ships reflecting light.

Caelano raises an eyebrow to Rhamyr, as if to say "Should we go along with this lunacy?"

But then he says, "If that explosion was a ship, someone may need our help. Is there some reason you *don't* want to go back?"

"Ship in need or ambush makes no difference, tallfolk." Rhamyr spits tobbaco juice onto the deck near his feet. "Going back without the Capn's orders is mutiny either way."

Finally, he seems to notice Pilya and Valben, and he shouts at them: "Don't just stand there and gawp you overgrowd idiots...get the bloody Cap'n!"

With that he sets about reversing the changes Tam maid to the sails - keeping an eye on the bloodthirsty sailor all the while.

Elisia suddenly reacts. "I'll fetch the captain!" she says, running off to look for him, still fingering a tune on her mandolin.

Manabu's ears perk up when Tam speaks about his "purpose". He doesn't understand the comment, but he notices that the man didn't qualify the remark. Apparently, any slain opponent will do.

"I wonder what stories his sword would tell," Manabu whispers to himself. Then he shrugs and begins loading his crossbow, continuing to watch the twinkling lights.

Gamecat: Is mirthcard going to be joining us as a player?

"Aye-aye," Caelano says to the gnome, "But if there's pirates ambushin' travellers, we should supply aid. Next time the pirates might be after us! Our ship and the other against the pirates' one would be better than going it alone."

When in doubt, Caelano thought, tell the truth. But the truth that the other guy would like to hear!

"And if there's no pirates, we should find out what's goin' on. Rescue or salvage, there's probably a profit in it. But the capt'n is the capt'n, and he'll do what's right!"

Caelano carefully notes the impact his words have on Rhamyr and on Tam. Disputes between crewmembers could be fatal, but it was a very fine line trying to agree with two such contrary individuals. Tam wanted to go and fight, and Rhamyr wanted to follow the captain's orders. If the captain's orders were to go and fight, all was good. If his orders were to flee, then no harm done- both Tam and Rhamyr would regard him as cooperative and a potential friend.

Could be tricky, he thought, trying to appear bloodthirsty to Tam and obedient and law-abiding to Rhamyr. Luckily he had lots of personal experience with creatures who exemplified both qualities.

Yah, methinks so

Tam glares at Valben and Pilya, and a flash of silver-white energy boils around his eyes. "Give me a hand, fools!" he shouts.*clatter of dice* They give him a blank look, and head for the bridge. Tam curses, and looks the devil at Ryamyr.

Krug:You enter the captain's room to see him and Westenberger in a shouting match:
W: Dammit, Captain! That was a ship under attack! We can't leave 'em!
S: Westenberger, we have a deadline to get this cargo!
W: Grrrr.....

Elisia shouts to get noticed. "Um... there's something happening outside... and I don't think you should leave that ship out there, C-C-Captain."

"I'm going to see what's keeping the captain. Be right back."

and Caelano runs towards the bridge. Hopefully Rhamyr and Tam won't take advantage of the AoO I just incurred!
