Spider Climbing Spellcasters

First Post
Can a wizard who is under the effects of a spider climb spell cast spells requiring somatic components (or material components for that matter) while on a wall or ceiling?

The SRD spell description states...

Spider Climb

Transmutation
Level: Sor/Wiz 1
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Target: Creature touched
Duration: 10 minutes/level
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless)
Spell Resistance: Yes (harmless)

The subject can climb and travel on vertical surfaces or even traverse ceilings as well as a spider does. The affected creature must have bare hands and feet to climb in this manner. The subject climbs at half its speed. A creature with a Strength score of at least 20 +1 per caster level can pull the subject off a wall.

This is somewhat different than the description in my PHB which mentions something about needing to keep feet and hands (or hand?) on the surface.

Slippers of Spider Climbing explicitly state that both hands are free, but the spell itself seems to hint at the fact that both hands and feet are needed to remain on a wall or ceiling.

Having at least one hand free to cast spells should not be a problem. Our Sorcerer in the first campaing I ran was always eating spiders to spider climb. We thionk he needed to go to SA (Spider's Anonomous). :D

It sounds like a reasonable adjudication, however is there any specific clarification of this in the rules? Did the PHB erratta clear this up? Did the sage rule on this?

While normally climbing you can have one hand free. Slipers of spider climbing are the same as just having the spell cast on you and they leave both hands free. I think it can easily be inferred that the spell alone will leave at least one hand free.
