Spidey II rumors

The only "blotch" I see to this is that Bruce has already appeared as one character (the ring announcer) - it always irritates me to see an actor recycled for another part in a movie, though it likely won't ruin anything for me.

I cannot see Robert deNiro NOR Billy Bob Thorton as Doctor Octopus. Robin williams I COULD see, however, because one thing Doc IS is a megalomaniac, and Robin can play that hands down.

For anyone not aware of Robin's recent serious work, check out Insomnia, and One Hour Photo. Great work on both films.

i won't be put-off by this (if it happens). brilliant scientist Dr Kurt Conners will be totally different than the flashy-ring-announcer-guy

and Andrew, i would love to see Morbius as a Spidey villain on-screen, although that would make every villain a scientist-gone-wrong... (Green Goblin, Doc Oc, the Lizard, Morbius)

And that is different from the comic book how?

Seriously, every other villain is the result of some experiment gone wrong or an unintended side effect of an experiment. Spidey himself is one, and he's the only good cookie in the whole bunch.

Lookit:

The Green Goblin
The Hobgoblin (by extension, but he did that to himself intentionally)
The Lizard
Doc Ock
The Scorpion
The Rhino (okay, so the experiment was a success in this case)

The only one who seems to have harnessed science is the Vulture, and the last I heard he got cancer from his power pack and was looking for a fountain of youth (course that was back before my 10-year hiatus).

Marvel is pretty much a sci fi company.

I don't know whom I'd like to see as Doc Ock, but I do think it's a perfect time for someone with tentacles or tendrils. Venom would be visually impressive on the big screen.

More power to Bruce Campbell if he lands Curt Connors. I hope they don't make him irredeemable like the Goblin. That's the entire point of the Lizard -- Curt doesn't want to be the Lizard, and Spidey can't hurt him because that would devastate the Connors.

Some of Spidey's best battles have been with the Lizard. I remember back in ASM 365 they had a rumble in the sewers and Spidey got trapped under Penn Station and had to lift it off himself. Whee!!

Correction - Spider man is pretty much a sci-fi comic. There's lots of fantasy stuff in the Marvel universe. Including:

Dr Strange (and pretty much every villain in his comic)
The Mighty Thor (and Odin, Loki, the Enchantress, and the rest of their version of the norse pantheon)
Hercules
The Black Knight (who fought with the Avengers)
Captian Britain (and that elfy whatshername from X-Caliber)
Ilyana Rasputin ("Magick" of the New Mutants)
Alpha Flight - Puck, Shaman, Talisman, and Sasquatch
Oh, and we cannot forget good old Dr. Doom! Everyone always forgets that he's a wizard on top of everything else :D

[Edit - Oh! We can't forget Namor, of Atlantis, and the Atlantean sorcerors that keep bugging him...]

I can't believe nobody commented on the fact that Michael Chabon (Wonder Boys, Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Summerland) is redrafting the screenplay. He's a great writer, with an abiding love for comics and the genre as a whole. If you haven't read anything by him, do yourself a favor. Fantastic stuff.

A question - I didn't follow Spiderman as well as I'd like. Is Harry (the Green Goblin's kid) the Hobgoblin? I know he's one of the '-goblin' villains, I can't recall which.

And me and my friends were discussing, it could be neat to see Electro as well.
