Hey, she's calling us crazy irrational stick in the mud's that should be smashing our gaming tables in protest..because we' should have already all moved to online gaming.

I personally don't like being called names by the company that I'm buying products from.

Secondly, it was the interviewer, not Ms. Schuh who made the Luddites remark.

Thirdly, the interview has been amended to have a section at the end where the interviewer says that the remark was tongue-in-cheek, and not meant to be taken seriously.

Finally, I'm as sad as anyone to see Dragon and Dungeon go, but the rabid hate on WotC is becoming passe (at least here), and we don't need to go looking for more reasons to froth at the mouth.

The interviewer is the one who made the Luddite comment (their not credited or I would name them here). Liz's response was actually pretty even-handed.

I think it's important to note that we're not moving away from printed product at Wizards. That is going to remain the bedrock of our business, it always has been, and it always will be. We're going to put out lots and lots of printed products. For people who prefer ink on paper, they'll always have a wide variety of choices.

Honestly after reading some the responses after the DI was announced I pretty much can see where she's coming from.

I use material for my games as a utility, I dont care whether it's in a magazine, book, PDF, saved from a website, whatever. What matters to me in the end is "can I use it?" There were posts here where people were like "If it's on my computer, how can I use it in my game? If it's on my computer and I want to use it in my game I have to bring the computer to my game table." and other such replies.

I gotta admit after reading a bunch of these responses HERE on an Internet message board, I pretty much thought that a bunch of people here were acting like a bunch technology hating old folk too. I couldnt really understand it until I thought about my own job and what I do in Tech support.

People just dont like CHANGE. Anything that forces us to apporach something in a different way or change how we do something is always going to be a problem for some people. Once I realized that is what was going on here it made it very easy for me to understand why people responded the way that did.
