Oh, come on, you can't have a discussion about balls before you define what a ball is! For our purposes, do balls have to be spheres, or are oblate spheroids allowed? And, if you allow oblate spheroids, why not other arbitrary shapes? Then we're down the slippery slope of having teddy bears be "balls"....
