Spotlight on… Nick Logue, writer for Sidetrek Adventure Weekly 2
Nicolas Logue has been a student of all things Asian for most of his life. Martial arts training led to philosophical pursuits and eventually historical research. He graduated from SUNY at Buffalo summa cum laude with two degrees; one in Theatre and one in Chinese Studies. At this time he had already spent one year in Beijing, China doing intensive language study and martial training. After graduation he returned to Beijing on a Fulbright grant to study Chinese Theatre (jingju) and martial arts. He stayed for two years traveling extensively in order to perform in northern and southern China. Afterwards in 2002 he headed to Hawaii to pursue an M.F.A. in Asian Theatre and has since trained in Japanese Kyogen (comedic theatre) and Indonesian Randai and Silat. Nicolas has been an avid roleplayer since he was ten years of age.
Nick was kind enough to speak to us to answer some interesting question about their involvement with the upcoming Louis Porter Jr. Design project.
1) How did you get into writing for RPGs?
I was on a very long Spring Festival break during my Fulbright Grant to Beijing when I read two issues of Dungeon magazine back to back with amazing adventures by Tito Leati. I was inspired. I submitted my first proposal "The Winding Way" which saw print in Dungeon magazine #117...the rest is history!
2) What drew you to work on Sidetrek Adventure Weekly?
Greg asked me to do it, and I love Greg! Oppedisano for the win!
3) What do you want PCs and GM to think about you after reading or playing in your issue of Sidetrek Adventure Weekly?
I want them to think "man, we can push boundaries and open up interesting doors to strange new worlds of adventure. Fantasy roleplaying can caress Sci-fi and make-out with Horror and you get one hot Orgy of Adventure.
4) What is your next big project that you have planned?
This has been a crazy year for me thus far. I'm launching my own Publishing company called Sinister Adventures and I'm moving to Seattle to work for Paizo Publishing as their Organized Play Coordinator where I'll be heading their new Pathfinder Society organized play campaign! Rock!
5) What's your favorite core class?
So hard! I'm a big fan of the monk! I likes to open me a can of whoopass on somebody with nothing but my bare-knuckles and flying feet!
