We were playing today and ran into a question about AOO.
We were fighting a dragon with reach of 10 feet and we had two characters attacking the dragon using spring attack. they were say 15 feet away then would move in to attack which they had no ranged attack so they were having to get to the dragon they would saying that because they had spring attack they did not get an A00 on them then they would run out of range again. Too me spring attack would stop an AOO from leaving the combat from they opponent they just attack, or am i just wronge

Um, if I'm parsing your question correctly, then the answer is "yes."

As in, the fighters using the Spring Attack feat to move in, strike, and then retreat, do not suffer AoO's from the dragon.

Note, however, that the designated target is the dragon, and that these fighters are not exempt from AoO's coming from anyone else (for example, the dragon's minions).

I think so. The feat says you can move before and after the attack. (You can't make a Full Attack - only a Standard Attack) But it does not say that you *must* move both before and after the attack.

ok thanks. do the fighter still not get a Aoo if they decide not to move away afterwards.

That's right. Of course, staying next to the dragon rather negates the point of Spring Attack, IMO -- the dragon gets to whale on them next round.
