As you may (or may not) know, I published an offline searchable version of the SRD 3.5. (link in my sig)

Now, I chose thse two formats to publish it in:

  • HTML with a custom javascript search engine for offline use and TOC
  • MS Help 1.x (CHM) single-file with a custom javascript search engine and TOC (I did not use the integrated ones in Windows Help because, well, I think they suck :) )

I am now close to releasing an updated version and I've been asking myself what format(s) people want to use. So this poll is to basically give me some direction.

As a side note, the new version will have a lot of fixes, both to content and to javascript code. The search engine will, for example, return results for "spell-like" and "take 10" at that time. (I had fat-fingered the code on that one...).

If there are any other formats of interest, please don't hesitate to indicate them. I realize that there are Linux and Mac owners who would like to have specific formats, and I'd like to know what you think.

I personnally privilege having a single big file instead of multiple HTML files, but that's me. I realize that straight HTML allows you to bookmark specific pages in your browser, but some of these formats allow you to do that, and I'm considering coding a simple bookmark tool in javascript for the custom stuff.

Opinions?

I see from the representative sample of the EN World population that has voted in this poll that HTML is preferred. :)

So, no need to stuff all this into one file? Which is somewhat curious, since out of the 588 downloads this month, 200 preferred the CHM version with the custom javascript TOC and search engine...
