I probably should be shot for having to ask this, but... What's the SRD?

Bang! JK.

System Reference Document.

The online document WotC put out for free with the majority of rules material for D&D.

Here is the link for the 3.5 one.

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

People can not only use this for their games but use it for publishing purposes as well.

Originally there was only a draft SRD they put out which was not official. When they finalized it they removed certain monsters from the monster section meaning they were no longer accessible on the website and offlimits for third party publishers to use without an express license from wotc to do so.

The excluded monsters are listed above.

Phrenic manticore

That's an interesting one. Is the Phrenic template in the SRD? If so, you can just make a Phrenic manticore. If it isn't, why isn't it? It hardly seems like important IP.

Ahh, thank you, I was actually thinking of the changes from draft srd to 3.0 srd since I have an electronic copy of the draft one I can cut and paste from for home projects, but the list for 3.5 and the other books are useful too, particularly since I don't have the 3.5 MM, just the 3.5 srd.

But note that the sample vampires (which I saw in the store, there are two I believe) are also not in the 3.5 srd.

And isn't there an aquatic umber hulk subspecies, the Vodyanoi?

You're welcome. I never did go through my 3.0 books closely enough to come up with a complete list, but I'm sure the differences are comparable. No PI monsters were added between SRD revisions.

I didn't include sample monsters (many of which were added between the two 3.5 versions of the SRD), nor variant monsters who don't get their own stats called out.

For example, if the SRD omitted the elephant, I would just list "elephant", not "indiant elephant" and "african elepahnt" -- even though there are rules in the description for converting between the two types.
