I'm not sure if it will be in addition to TNG, or as a replacement, but I just saw an advertisement heralding Deep Space Nine coming to the Spike Channel April Fifth.

Cool. I haven't watched nearly as many DS9 reruns, so it'll be much more fresh than TNG reruns.

My wife and I jumped for joy (well not really :) ) when we saw the news. I imagine that TNG will probably be scaled back a little to make room for DS9.

Whoa, April 5th...

Wait, isn't that the date for First Contact...?

So, will we have some discussions about DS9 episodes, after all? :-)
But remember, in the beginning, DS9 is a bit slow (though I still think it has several powerful and well made episodes, and it never is as cheesy as some TNG episodes appear to me sometimes. And the plots are never as weak as they seem to be in Voyager :) )

On German TV, they are already rerunning DS9 for a couple of month now. We are short before the recapture of DS9 through Federation forces...

Bah. There's no way I'll have cable that soon. Maybe in a couple months, though, and I can jump in about season 2 or so...

I actually bought the entire DVD set of TNG and watched them with my wife. She loved them. But she had vaguely remembered DS9 from when it was on the air and declared that she didn't like it. I kept telling her it was actually the best Star Trek series of them all (even better than Voyager, which she did watch when it was on the air and loved) but she remained skeptical.

Well, I "forced" her to watch DS9 when I got all of them on DVD as well... and at first, she was resistant, but then after we got into the 2nd Season, she couldn't get enough. She called it our "crack" because we'd spend our weekends watching it and she was really upset when it was over after season seven because she wanted more. She even wanted to go back and watch all seven seasons again after it was over, but we didn't actually do that. We did end up watching Buffy and Angel on DVD and have now run out of those which she has also complained about - she has found her new "crack". I had never watched either (with the exception of the singing episode of Buffy) and I was quite impressed and now await the release of the rest of the seasons. Ok, now I'm way off this topic...
