Stacking Strength Bonuses

Apologies if this question has come up loads of times before.

We are playing in the Rokugan setting and a character has a class feat (Lady Matsu's Fury) that states the character may double his strength bonus when adding it to the combat damage dealt by any melee weapon. The character uses a katana with two hands which has a strength damage modifier of 1.5.

So, the question is: With 23 (+6 modifier) strength, does he do +18 {(6 x 1.5) x2}, +15 {(6 x 1.5) +6} or +12 {6 x 2}?

D&D Maths would suggest +15; x2 x1.5 = x2.5 by the multiplication rule.

In the same way that double double = x2 x2 = x3, or double triple = x2 x3 = x4.

I'd go with using twice the strength bonus instead of 1.5 (or 1 for light(one-handed weapons). The +3 net bonus seems already quite enough for me.

It depends on how exactly the feat is worded. If it actually says 'you may double your strength bonus when...', then I agree with Hyp. But relatively subtle changes in the wording could make it either of the others.
