Warlord: "Fighter, you go up to the left of those goblins and make them move towards the pits. Rogue, you go around the back and pick them off. Wizard, cast Summon Playboy III, I'll standby and protect you if anyone gets past fighter."

Obviously if the enemy is two squares away, it may be a bad idea to lie on the ground to fire off a spell from below, but it may be a viable defense if the melee combatants are a decent distance away and you're in danger of being picked off by enemy arrows.
Plus you could always bluff your way into making the enemy believe you've had a heart attack, allowing you to lie on the ground. Wait until he forgets about you and magic missile his backside.
