Star*Drive Aliens

Ruland

First Post
I managed to buy a used copy of the out of print Star*Drive setting for the Alternity game. Now the origin of lots of technical terms and creatures in d20 Future is clear to me, but it seems that the Vrusk and Yazirian are not taken from the Star*Drive setting - at least not the core setting book.

Does anybody know whether the Vrusk and Yazirian are from another setting or completely new inventions?

I think those are from even older TSR Intellectual Property, which I'm not personally familiar with ... a setting and game called Star Law. Not related to the Alternity game at all.

It was actually called Star Frontiers. My parents bought a used copy for me when I was thirteen, and I used to play it a lot.

Star Law is a ICE product for SpaceMaster.

Star Frontiers has a website where you can download the whole thing for free (though I have had trouble everytime I go there so I don't bother anymore).

I looked it up on the Star Frontiers website, and besiders the Vrusk and Yazirians the Dralasites as well are from that universe.

Wouldn't mind integrating the Vrusk into the Star*Drive setting, though - they are quite cool and could perhaps be encountered at the verge of the Verge ... :D

It has been years since I saw it- I don't own anything from ICE. But I did see it in a friend's collection of SM books. Unless I am mistaken and it was for another system and he placed it with the SM books.

The Dralasites, Vrusk, Yzirians and Sathar are all from TSR's Star Frontiers game (early 80's). "Star Law" was the default campaign concept for that game, where the characters are essentially the FBI/US Marshals for the UPF (United Planetary Federation), "Star Law" Rangers. "Star Law" was also the name for the Rolemaster-in-space expansion by ICE. It was re-released sometime around 2000.

The original material call them rangers instead of officers? Interesting.

I tried to search the product in the Iron Crown web site, but it turns up zilch. Need more info.

That's because.... I was wrong. "Space Law" is the ICE product, "Star Law" is the name of the UPF's police force. While I don't have the books at hand, I do believe they were called "Rangers" (or at least that was a rank in the service). "Star Law, FREEZE!!!" is a vary familliar quote from those days....
