Star Frontiers? Gamma World?

and for what it is worth, at the very bottom edge of the Star Frontiersman | Magazine! page is a piece of text where it is stated that he has limited permission although it does not directly define these permissions. See last few words of this line.

You know, I'm surprised that nobody has brought up the core book remasters that are up at Star Frontiersman. Digitally Remastered | Star Frontiersman

If I were so inclined to run a Star Frontiers game in the near future, I'd be looking to these instead of the classic game.

When I was a kid, I used to go to the Waldenbooks in our mall and look at the D&D and Star Frontiers books (I particularly loved monsters and aliens). For years now, I've been trying to find the 1e D&D stats for a monster called the "army rat," but lo and behold, it actually appeared in the SF rule book. Mystery solved!

You know, there's an OSRIC-type version up for Gamma World, too, called Mutant Future (Mutant Future)

I don't really know my Gamma Worlds (though I LOVE the d20 minigame, "Omega World"), but I'm assuming it's first edition Gamma World, gone the way of OSRIC or Labyrinth Lord.

Always loved me Star Frontiers.

The original modules on that planet ... forget the name ... were pretty cool. Loads of fun.

heck, they had pirates in the first module. Everything is better with pirates.

Gamma World 2e all the way.
Don't get me wrong, 1e holds a cherished place on my bookshelf, but 2e simplified some important things (figuring out tech anyone).

Star Frontiers is also pure gold...but Gamma World always wins in my book.

I believe you mean Volturnus?

As for the topic at hand- I picked up the original boxed set (before they called it Alpha Dawn or whatever, which I never understood anyway) the day it hit the shelves.I really don't remember the details of mechanics as I only played a couple sessions ut overall I remember really liking all the fluff, and not so much the way the game played.

Mutant Future is pretty darned cool. It isn't identical to 1st edition GW but is very close. I playtested it and my son is currently working on a campaign to GM.
