Star Gate questions

glass

(he, him)
They just started showing Star Gate: Atlantis on (terestrial TV) over here, but it is being shown on a different channel from SG1, so I'm not sure where it fits in from a timing point of view. Thankfully,
the action move ofworld quickly
, so there was very little in the way of spoilers in Atlantis, except for the fact that
Colonel O'Neil is now General O'Neil
.

Unfortunately, the situation is complicated by the fact that I don't know what season of SG1 I've seen up to, although it was the one where
SG1 found the Ancients outpost in the (ant)arctic just in time to defeat Anubis.

Since Atlantis
kicks off at that same outpost
, I'd say it follows on directly if it wasn't for the issue of
O'Neil's promotion
.

So, my questions are:
  1. Which season of SG1 have I seen?
  2. How many episodes/seasons of SG1 (if any) have passed between that and the start of Atlantis?
  3. How many more seasons (if any) of SG1 have they made? I know Atlantis has just started season 2 over there, right?

Thanks in advance, and please no spoilers!

1. You've seen up to the end of Season 7.

2. Season 1 of Atlantis was last season. Season 8 of SG-1 was last season. The finale of Season 7 of SG-1 led up up to the premier of Atlantis.

3. SG-1 is on Season 9 right now. Season 8 will be on DVD this October. Yes, Season 2 of Atlantis started at the same time as Season 9 of SG-1.

Reveal has given all the essential information. However, you should probably be advised that the Season 8 finale of SG-1 and the Season 1 finale of Atlantis overlap somewhat, so if you're following one and not the other you may have a little difficulty understanding what's going on.

Thanks sniffles and Reveal.

Hopefully Channel 4 and Five will talk to each other and Season 8 of SG-1 will be starting soon! I won't hold my breath though.
