Star Pact Hexblades up

What an annoyance, that the most interesting of the warlocks gets buried behind the paywall :(
You say annoyance, I say business plan :).

Looks good and interesting, but some of it needs some work. Their retribution either needs to be an immediate interrupt, or last until the end of the target's turn - the way it's written now, it will not affect any of the target's attacks. The Implement keyword also needs to be added to a bunch of their powers, to be in line with the other Hexblades we've seen.

As a point of discussion: can this guy take Student of Caiphon for that juicy 18-20 crit range?

Star pact hexblade is int secondary.

- you wield a longsword with increased damage die
- at will is a "radiant cleave" effect dependant on your int modifier.
- a kill gives you a +1 to hit until end of your next turn

- warlocks ally is invisible and can make you invisible too, has a non radiant melee attack.

lots of invisibility and blind, radiant and psychic effects.

New Race: Shade! It says "Note that this race is not yet released and will be detailed in Heroes of Shadow". I hope it's a sort of Dante-ish dead soul with sentience and free will. There is some excellent fluff here. A small excerpt (no crunch):

"The only stars that don’t deceive their viewer are the dead stars. Stars that long ago faded from sight in the world glimmer in dull solidity in the Shadowfell."

"Shades record the position of the dead stars and use them in much the same way as the people of the world."

"By comparing the sky of the Shadowfell with that of the world, they find new constellations and new meanings in the movement of celestial bodies."

I can't say anything about the crunch, as I'm not a player and don't care about player-related materials. But isn't it cool to sail after dead stars? Where do you go when you sail like that? Certainly not to the same places as when you sail after stars that still burn and shine...

I'm glad you're looking forward to the Shades, as I wrote them for Heroes of Shadow. I'm anxious to see their final form, as well!

My favorite bit about the stars in D&D comes actually from MM3, in the Star Spawn entry, where the book asks "why do some stars hate the world?". That single sentence carried so much flavor and possibility!

As for the dead stars and the Shadowfell, this flavor text opens some great possibilities: imagine the PCs need to go to to the Shadowfell, or need to seek out the council of a long-deceased king. They must find an old captain willing to sail not by the stars, but by the empty spots in the heavens, until those spots are filled with the grayness of dead stars!

"Second void to the left, and straight on until the gray dawn".

There is much coolness in this post. Check out this link (after i found the song on YouTube, I used it as background-music for when the players entered a black pyramid in the Abyss, the roars were the sounds of the creature imprisoned within):

straight on till mourning? ;)
"Must spread XP around before giving it to Scribble again."

Somehow, I'm now envisioning an Eberron campaign where the PCs find out what happened during the Day of Mourning...

[sblock]
Cyre is still alive and vibrant... in the Shadowfell. For those caught in the Mourning, the rest of the world is the Mournland, and they are the sole remaining nation.

What do you think, Hellcow ?
