Genuine question - what stops them just hiring writers not in America?

Have you gotten spam from someplace where English is the second (or third or business-only or...) language? Imagine a half-hour script full of same.

OTOH, a Star Wars (or Guardians of the Galaxy) script full of Australian, New Zealand, London, Irish, Canadian &c colloquialisms would give a "galaxy full of different planets" effect without having to add subtitles.

Our scriptwriters know enough to remove our slang from foreign productions.

Avatar 2&4 are wrapping up but I think our movie industry is fairly busy next few years anyway in NZ.
