Star Wars d20: non-primitive Force Adepts

G'day

I've just started in my first Star Wars d20 campaign. Our characters started off as natives of a relatively backward planet. Our homeworld lacks space travel, and has only primitive laser weapons. The Jedi have never been here yet, and consequently Jedi character classes are not available. But the planet isn't primitive.

I chose to play a Force Adept, and undertook to adumbrate an alternative philosophy of force use. And I got a bit of a surprise when I discovered that my free feats and class skills hinted that I was some sort of hunter-gathering tribesman. Does anyone else share my opinion that the 'Force Adept' class short-changes sophisticated approaches to the Force that are alternative to the Jedi approach?

And if we are to light a candle rather than curse the darkness, what is the alternative? Generate a noble or a scoundrel or a soldier and sink feats into Force training?

Regards,

Take a look at the Dark Side Devotee and Dark Side Marauder Prestige Classes. They are a little less primitive than the Force Adept (especially the Marauder), can be taken at very low levels, and could easily be converted into Light Side equivalents.
