Star Wars & Engery Dissipation

I've had the feat Engery Dissipation for my 7th level Jedi for a while. Can I take a hit from a Light Saber and still gain HP back from it. The feat itself says nothing about Light Sabers, it only says engery based weapons. I've been playing it this way since I picked the feat.

Lightsabers are energy-based weapons.

3d6 is correct, lightsabers are energy weapons. Take a look at Table 7-2, p. 132 of the Revised Core Rulebook. The column "Type" shows what type of damage weapons do...and Lightsabers are "Energy."

Keep in mind that there is very important errata on Dissipate Energy:
1) Dissipate Energy only works on WP damage. If you take a hit that only does VP damage, you can't use Dissipate Energy.
2) The DC on the Fortitude save is DC10+WP damage suffered.
