And I think there are SSDs that have superlasers in either the books or comics.

I know they are used in this one online game I play in, and I've seen references to various sources.

What anime would that be, Kesh?

Starblazers. I remeber it as a kid and it rocked after school in the afternoons. A few years ago me and some mates saw it in a video store and hired it out... it sucked :D

I think the Eclipse and the other ultra-big SD which was from that return of the emporer era (stuff that I personally hated) has a super laser in them, not as powerful as a deathstar laser. But I mean sh*t, most of their atmosphere gets vaped off on the first shot so its a moot point...

Well lets see.

Lightsabers- Different type of crystals.

For the sith in my old republic game they have have crystal that when the saber crits they drain the wound points. Think of vampiric lightsabers. They blade has small discharges of black lighting dancing around the blade.

Villians, how about my jedi hunting bounty hunter. His secret weapon, Cortise(sp) dust grenades. Cortise is that crystal than is basically deactivates a lightsaber that comes in contact with it. The bounty hunter ground these crystals to a fine dust and the grenade disperses them. No lightsaber can be activated in the dust cloud.

Superweapons- I am not a big fan of superweapons. Besides the deathstar there has never been anyother type of superweapon in my game. The closest thing was a nerve gas that was able to affect an entire planet.

Hope some of these help

Crystals work well I think. Simply allow each lightsaber to have up to two crystals to modify its base stats. Use the magic weapon section of the 3rd Edition DMG for modification ideas or use your imagination.

A low end crystal could provide a +1 to-hit and damage.

A high end crystal could provide a +3 to-hit and damage, plus the keen attribute.

The "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" game uses a similar system for lightsabers. It works well I think.

As far as lightsabers and crystals go, when they build a lightsaber it'll take up a few game sessions; if they want to spend the time, they can go out and look for some higher quality crystals that increase the damage.

The cortise dust grenade? Simply the coolest idea I've heard in a long time, especially when used in conjunction with Sith Swords.

Superweapons- YEah, I still haven't figured out what I'm gonna do, although as someone suggested, I might use a metaphorical superweapon, Fear.

Alright, I've got some of my ideas pretty well laid out in my head; I'm borrowing an idea from somebody else on this board and relocating the Jedi praxeum to Coruscant instead of Yavin 4; I just like the ideas for adventures that pop into my head when I think of Jedi on Coruscant, and Skywalker is working on reesstablishing the old ways of the Jedi, including the Jedi Council.

Now though, I need to ask two favors of y'all. One, could anybody suggest some cool students to include? Even if you're using fantasy races, I don't much mind(they've already got a centaurian apprentice, Luska, and the Jedi Knight Tionne is decidedly elfin), but I could definitely use some help on apprentices to include in the game.

Also, can anybody point me towards a site with a map of the Star Wars universe? I need to get a decent idea of where Coruscant, the Core, the Outer Rim planets, Corellia, and all them are.

as far as interesting students go, if you've got the UAA, just start thumbing through the species and pick out some interesting ones.

the map in the core rulebook isn't that bad, but it isn't that detailed. it does give you a rough idea of where all the major planets are. if you need something more detailed than that, i'd suggest taking a look at nav-computer.com.

Even tho you've decided a big 'no' on superweapons, I'd just put forth one possibility later on: mass drivers. In Babylon 5, the Centauri turned the Narn homeworld into a dustbowl by flinging asteroids at it. In the Star Wars universe, such a weapon shouldn't be too difficult to make.

Anything you can pummel with a mass driver you can do with conc missiles and turbolasers, both are a little more easier to use and versitile.
The reason for this is planetary sheilds, anywhere important has them, if they dont then they just vape the atmosphere off with turbolasers and turn the surface into molten rock. Anything smaller than a deathstar scale 'gun' will just bounce off it.
I suspect the planetary shield was probably implemented in the past by civilisations to both protect themselves from orbital bombardment and the odd chunk of wandering rock that hits the planet and causes an ice age.

However, a Grav-shock type of weapon might be able to bypass a planets shields and SW tech level for things like Interdictor cruisers and artificial gravity on ships is there. Hit them with something the equivalent of a Rictor 10 earthquake with a focused gravity weapon from space will leave most places a real mess!
