[Star Wars] Questions.

1. If a ship's captain knew where they would be jumping to once they reached space, why not preimput the cordinates into the hyperdrive to save time? I remember reading that Astromech droids stored locations so why not have them work up some escape plans and store them in case of emergency?

2.Were strom troopers the standard ground troops of the empire or were they more elite and only happened to be shown with requency in the movies because of big players? Would you find them guarding remote outposts?

3. Are the Starship combat rules in the revised Core book the same as the ones in ships of the galaxy?

1. That makes good sense. However it could take some of the dramatic pressure off the crewman who has to figure the AstroNav stuff.. hence lessening crew involvment.. depending on how you run the situations and starship scenes in your game.

2.That is open to interpretation.. it is mentioned they are the Elite troopers.. and you do see 'regulars' in the movies, not all are officers.. but with the Clone Wars revelation (Read George Lucas does not remember his earlier movies anymore, he just makes it up) They could be all over.

3. No the rules in Revised are different than either of the earlier rules, more closely tied to the rules that appeared in SW Gamer.. may it rest in peace.

Might be a possibility but there would be a limit as your position, direction and timing all change over time. So though this may be possible you should at least get the same penalty that you get for using just an R2 unit (not a Nav Computer) and also even then you would probably be wise to make some last minute adjustments.

Yep though SotG is still 90% usable.

The best answer I can come up with is: your relative position to the planets in the lane you're travelling, the gravity wells they produce and their effect on hyperspace, and any mapped obstructions needs to be computed at the time of the jump. The reason for that is because only at the time of the jump is all the information current.

You could plot a jump beforehand, but you would have to be in the exact position and alignment. If you can pull that off, certainly. DC +10. :)

Yes, you would find Stormtroopers guarding outposts. They're clones and fodder for the Imperial Machine(tm). They're going to be the only troops seen in numbers.

I reason away the presence of other troopers like this: ensigns and junior officers performing duties outside the scope of a Stormtrooper's fight-and-die rubrik. The thinking humans are the wardens and prison guards, the technicians and fleet commanders. Wherever you wouldn't send in the Marines, that's what you'd use the junior officers for; these are the people that want to grow up one day and be captains and colonels.

They mostly the same, but they're minor differences. SotG is out of print because it's no longer compatible, so that's the best answer I can give.
