Star Wars rebellion-era, recommended books?

Hello,

I am toying with the idea of running a Star Wars D20 campaign, and need a bit of advice on additional books to purchase.

I currently only have the SW D20 revised handbook, so any additional books are fair game.

The game will be set in the rebellion era (about 6 months before Episode 4), and involve the players actually helping steal and transport the plans for the first Death Star, ultimately getting them into the hands of Princess Leia. (The players won't know WHAT they have, just that they're stealing weapon plans. Hopefully, they'll catch on toward the end of the game, given enough clues).

So, I assume I'd need the core rulebook, and the Rebellion-Era sourcebook. What other books would you folks recommend, given the Era?

Thanks!

there's so many choices!

other than the specific-era sourcebooks, WOTC has been very keen on making sure that their books are useable in all eras.

you could find lots of useful material in the Hero's Guide, the Galactic Campaign Guide, the Ultimate Alien Anthology, even Starships of the Galaxy (for the original edition) if you can still find it.

you probably wouldn't get much use, however, out of Power of the Jedi or the Dark Side sourcebook, mainly because they're a bit side-lined in the Rebellion era.

I have managed to find plenty of old WEG Star Wars books used, and they tend to be $10 or less. Of these, I'd recommend the Movie Trilogy Sourcebook, the Rebel Alliance Sourcebook, and the Imperial Sourcebook, for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, Second Edition. They have general information on what's where and who's who. I particularly recommend the chapters on intelligence organizations in the faction sourcebooks, because they can help you set up a method of stealing and transporting information.

Hope this helps!

I second the use of the old West End Games Star Wars books. They will not help you with rules since they use the d6 system, but there is plenty of fluff there that can be used. Other types of books that would be useful would be the Star Wars Encyclopedia books that are out. They aren't rpg books, but have tons of information in them from what I've seen.
