Star Wars Saga character creation help

Tosca's definitely going to be more personable than Mar'Kessa. ;-)

Here's what I have so far (input welcome - oh, and if I messed up, let me know.. I'm still new to this stuff...)

Zeltron Species Traits

Abilities: –2 Con, –2 Wisdom, +4 Cha. Zeltrons are charismatic and gregarious, but their indulgent nature sometimes leads them to act before thinking.

Medium Size: As Medium creatures, Zeltrons have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.

Speed: Zeltron base speed is 6 squares.

Conditional Bonus Feat: A Zeltron that has Persuasion as a trained skill gains Skill Focus (Persuasion) as a bonus feat.

Zeltron Empathy: Zeltrons are naturally empathic. As a free action, a Zeltron may make a Perception check opposed by a target's Will Defense. If successful, the Zeltron may discover the target's attitude toward him or her, as well as the target's general emotional state. The target cannot detect this check.

Intuitive Initiative: Zeltrons are known for their quick reactions. A Zeltron may choose to reroll any Initiative check, but the result of the reroll must be accepted, even if it is worse.

Automatic Languages: Zeltrons speak Basic.

Had to look up what those were. Found some info here. Appropriate choice!

These are wrong. You should have base 0 (level) +5 (trained) + your ability bonus. You should have:
Deception (9) 0 +5 +4
Gather Information (9) 0 +5 +4
Knowledge: Social Science (6) 0 +5 +1
Perception (5)
Persuasion (14) 0 +5 +4 +5 (feat)
Treat Injury (5)
Use Computer (6)

You also get to choose a feat for being 1st level. Point Blank Shot is good if you don't intend to take any Scoundrel levels; Skill Focus (Deception) is nice otherwise.

Cheers, -- N

As for languages:

-You get three more, not two. One from your +1 int, and two more from the linguist feat.

-Ask your GM. He'll probably have some notion of which languages might see use in your campaign, and which won't.

-Absent his advice, Shyrii'wook is a good choice. Wookies can't vocalize basic, so knowing Shyrii'wook is the only way to understand them absent a translator droid. The same is true of Binary if you want to be able to communicate with certain droids. Gammoreans and Ewoks also don't speak basic, but you're less likely to run into them.

-Huttese is always a good choice. It's commonly spoken among the seedier denizens of the galaxy. Pretty much all of the subtitled dialogue in the films was huttese (including Jabba, of course, but also Greedo and Sebulba). On the other hand, most of the folks that speak Huttese can also speak basic, so knowing the language is good for being polite and eavesdropping, but not absolutely essential to communication.

-I have no Idea what High Galactic is, or if it will see any sort of use in your game, but it sounds like the sort of thing that an Inara-like character might know.

Aside from the skill numbers which Nfft already pointed out, most of this looks good as far as rules crunch goes. Did a double take on the stats, but that's probably because I haven't used a 25pts in the point-buy for a long time. I might suggest lowering her Wisdom by 2 points and putting those into Dexterity, as it'll give her Reflex Defense a nudge, which given her low hit points will help keep her from getting plastered too quickly should she get caught in a fight.

You do look to be missing your 1st character level bonus feat though, as the feats listed are either from her class starting list or her race. On that front, if you're expecting her to get into a lot of scraps, Point Blank Shot isn't a bad idea given that most SWSE fights occur within point blank range for most weapons, or its very easy to move close enough to get to point blank range. Or you could go Skill Focus for one of her skills, with my suggestions being either Deception to really play up her "companionesque" background or Treat Injury, the later of which the rest of the party will thank you for given how few other options exist in SWSE for quick hit point recovery. And it could even play into Tosca's background in that she's well trained in various froms of massage therapy ;)

Language suggestions I'd make based on the background details provided would be Bocce (a universal trade language) and Huttese (practically the equivalent of D&D thieves' cant). If you need some other language ideas to fit her background, Ryl is another good one. High Galactic would be helpful if she routinely travels amongst the galaxy's elite and would show that she is more a cultured companion rather than a common trollop.

Slight threadjack...is this game in Central Florida or elsewhere?

And if it is Central Florida, is there extra room?
I've been trying to find a Saga game to join for a while. :)

hooray, more help! :-) I feel like this is finally starting to pull together! Thanks everyone. :)

Mr.Ike - Yes, we're in the Orlando area. Our group is full (6 players!), but there's another Star Wars group (with two players shared from ours) that is only 3 players. If you're not the church-going type, I'm sure they'd love to have a new person. They game on Sunday late mornings. :-)

Contact me if you want more details.
