Star Wars Shotgun?

The Souljourner

First Post
Is there any equivalent to a shotgun in any of the Star Wars RPG books? You know, something that does a lot of damage up close, less as the target gets farther away, and gives some bonus to hit, maybe with an area of effect?

Just thinking of one of my favorite weapons from Cyberpunk - the autoshotgun. A fully automatic weapon that fires shotgun shells. Great for room sweeping.

Any help or suggestions would be great.

If you seen one or mentioned in the text of Star Wars movie or novels, let me know.

Otherwise, use the musket stats in DMG or Dragon #321 (convert weapon damage for use with VP/WP; see Unearthed Arcana).

Alternately, use the stats for shotguns from d20 Modern. Seriously. Pistols and rifles in SWd20 use the same rules as d20 Modern pistols and rifles.

With the way they do WP feats no one would bother to learn it. I would think WP(Slugthrower) wouldn't cut it with a shotgun or an autoshotgun. You'd need EWP(Shotgun).

AFAIC, "Slugthrowers" is just another name for "Firearms." In the Star Wars universe, modern firearms would be considered primitive compared to blaster weapons.

As for my musket response, I try to take what I see in the movie, and Luke's slugthrower rifle is about as primitive as a musket, especially when musket can use any object for ammunition (e.g., pebbles).

Dragonstar has a shotgun rule you moght be interested in:

3d6at the first range increment, 2d6 at the second range increment, and 1d6 with a 5 ft coverage at the remaining increments. DS's range increments tend to far exceed those in SW, so used have to set your own.

Sorry about the duplicate reply. Got button happy when I was saving.

That's pretty much it. Slugthrowers would cover a shotgun...you could modify it if you really wanted, but very few people use them anymore so they aren't that diverse in types.

There aren't any blaster-type weapons like a shotgun that I know of, either.
