Star Wars / SOLO teaser

In the book series Han prevented an officer from either hitting or torturing Chewie because Han's foster mother was a Wookie.

I thought Harrelson was playing the man who taught Han the criminal trade which he escaped by joining the Imperial Academy.

I think this time Han doesn't just save Chewie but also other Wookies with Chewie using the life debt as an excuse to help an obviously heroic young man from going down a darker path.

This movie is going to be just one long row of sticking together every single thing that was briefly mentioned, or related to Han Solo in the original trilogy. The Kessel Run... how he won the Falcon in a game, Lando, Chewie, and probably Jabba and Boba Fett. I don't think that is a very good premise for a movie.

Then why do you assume that's what they'll do?

Young rougish wannabe 'captain', gets in trouble with both the Navy and the Pirates, wins an old ship in a card game, gathers a crew and uses it to daringly escape a deadly assassin - sounds like a great premise for a movie really ...

Because they did it before.

Judging by the teaser, they are continuing the trend of not coming up with anything new. Just a long line of callbacks to things from the OT. When you think about it, the Star Wars universe is really rather small and limited.

As someone who really enjoyed “The Force Awakens” and who thought “The Last Jedi” was the best entry in the series since “The Empire Strikes Back,” I’m still not looking forward to the Marvel-ization of the Star Wars universe. One of the things that set the series apart, in my mind or a writer at http://writepaperforme.org/, is that each new entry—even bad ones, like “Attack of the Clones”—felt *significant* and part of an overall epic narrative. They’re going to lose that really fast when there are new entries every 12-18 months for the foreseeable future.

Unless I hear really great things about the post-Episode IX movies, I’m probably done with “Star Wars” after 2019.
