Starblazer Adventures?

OK, so I just excitedly clicked on the ad banner at the top of my ENWorld page to find out more on Starblazer Adventures, and it takes me to this.

Now I'm confused. Is this not actually related to the awesome early 80's cartoon with Deslok and Iscandir and all that? I expect not, but perhaps some of our fine British members can shed some light on what it actually is...

Indeed. It is not based on Uchu Senkan Yamato but on the long running series of comic books similar to the Commando books.

Each of the 281 issues was generally a single complete story in a 7 x 5 1/2 inch, 68 page book.

The game is more a general space opera game or given its phone book size a weight training aid.

Of course, while it doesn't directly involve any wave-motion guns, I'm pretty sure you could use it to run adventures involving those Starblazers.

I just wanted to comment on this system even if it isn't what the OP was looking for. I picked this up at Gen Con and it is all kinds of awesome. If you're looking for a pulpish sci-fi game, I can't recommend it enough.

You can stat out space ships, giant space monsters and galactic wide organizations with the same basic rules set. It takes the basic rules from Spirit of the Century (FATE v3.0) and turbo charges them.

One thing to note is that despite the book's daunting size it really is rules light. You simply have a lot of examples of what to do with the game's very basic rules structure. It also has a lot of info on the comic source material, perhaps even too much.

Just my $.02.

I too thought this was from the old Cartoon, although even though it's not I'm still quite interested. I've been looking for a pulpish Sci fi game, this might just be the ticket. I'm off to learn more about the FATE system.
Later,
Bill

If you have any questions, just ask. One thing about FATE is that it's OGL, so you can see the SRD for it here.

Heya,
Thanks for the link!
Are you currently running (or have you ran) a SB Campaign?
I notice it doesn't seem to track ammo, gear and such like other games I am used to was this an issue for the players to get used too?
How hard/easy is it to work mutants into the rules?
Thanks,
Bill
