Starfarers Anyone have experience with it?

I bought the Dragonstar Starfarers Handbook a few years ago at a convention in Toledo, OH called Bashcon. I mainly got it to pull in futuristic weapons into my 3.5 game at the time. But recently I have been thinking of actually running it as a setting. Anyone actually ran a game using it? Would you it would be better to use d20 future as the base for the game and just port items over from the dragonstar book like I have been for D&D 3.5?

I ran many of the living events for DragonStar. It's a nice concept and the storyline is fine. However the weapons were the more broken down aspect in my opinion. There are better modern/future weapon rules available and have came out since it was printed. I would recommend keeping the story and trashing the weapon rules for something better and more up to date.
