Stargate Continuum *Spolers*

I just finished watching the new Stargate SG-1 movie, Continuum (got from Netflix). I have to say overall I was fairly disappointed (definitely won't be buying).

It's essentially an alternate timeline story.

Likes
- Return of Jack O'Neill. In the few scenes he had, RDA reminded me what was missing from the show the last few seasons. Nothing against Ben Browder or Claudia Black. I loved them in Farscape and thought they did a great job in SG-1 but the loss of Jack changed the dynamic of the show (nevermind the lousy Ori storyline).
- Ba'al. He became one of the more interesting villains.
- Alternate timeline Vala. Good old fashioned Goa'uld evilness and plotting.

Dislikes
- The story. Why should I care? I know from the beginning of the episode (or at least when the timeline starts changing) that no matter what happens it doesn't mean anything. By the end of the episode, the reset button will have been pushed. This really irked me. Especially because I remember interesting alternate timeline episodes from the series itself, like when Daniel went through the mirror and saw the Goa'uld invasion of earth.

RDA appears to have put on some weight. I enjoyed the extra long episode. I hope they do more of them. there may yet be other changes to the timeline that will be revealed.

I was real disappointed with this movie. From the previews, which did not even hint at a time loops story, I assumed that it was going to have the return of the ga'hul. Instead we get a story that doesn't matter and tells you that from teh beginning. At no point am I entertained because you know the ending of the movie from the beginning. Especially when you see JOhn Criton on the boat and Jack die so unheroically.

If this is the kind of crap they are pushing off as movies to continue the story I"d prefer for them to let the series die a peaceful death. If the story is not going to be epic, why make a movie.
