Stargate SG-1:Season 9 7.22.05 *No Spoilers caps required*

Truth Seeker

Adventurer
"Avalon", Episode #902.

Daniel Jackson and Vala are transported to a distant galaxy populated by worshippers of a strange authority.

Cast: Beau Bridges, Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Ben Browder.

Okay, since my VCR tape went all spotty on me, last week. I couldn't comment on the new faces and I avoided like the plague on the other thread I started, so...how they doing?

I like 'em a lot. Others, not so much. :)

It's pretty mixed right now but I think people just need to give it time and see how they settle down into their roles.

Very cool episode. :)

Awesome way to introduce the new bad guy. They are definitely way more powerful than the Go'auld. That guy actually brought someone back to life. How the hell is SG-1 supposed to fight against that?! :D

Personally, I like the new faces so far (haven't seen Gosset Jr. yet, just heard the name). I really like Claudia Black in this. She gets to have so much more fun as Vala than Aeryn. Browder brings a kind of "aw shucks" attitude that the show needs heading into a new era (new villain, new allies).

Speaking of the new villian's powers, remember that the Goa'uld could also bring people back from the dead. It happened to Jackson, O'Neill, Skarra, and Apophis. They just needed the sarcophagus, while the new guy used a staff.

[sblock]Either Daniel could partially ascend again to fight him, a'la the aborted special effects fight from end of season 6 (?), or the Milky-Way Ancients could step in to slow him down.[/sblock]

OK, so, I missed the first episode of this season to be at a friend's wedding. Where did ONeil and Carter go? Neither were in this episode.

Edit: and may I just say, that naming that guy Cameron Mitchell is kinda unfortunate from my point of view. See, there's a locally (columbus, ohio) well-known restauranteur with that name who owns something like a dozen places, almost all of them variations on his name (mitchell's, cameron mitchell's, cameron's, M, etc, etc). One of them I pass on my way to work every day, and it's a bit of a giggle every time I hear someone call the new colonel "Cameron Mitchell".

My wife walked out on the show. She thinks SG1 has jumped the shark.

I had a hard time arguing against that. The writing is still solid, but to my eye, it looks like they're running out of ideas.

I think they're floundering a bit since they apparently took out the gouald for once and for all. It's only the second episode of what is effectively a spinoff series, at this point. I'll give it more time than this.

Wow. My wife and I completely disagree. We love the writing, we think the characters of Vala and Mitchell are written, and acted, very well, and we are both excited to see what this new bad guy can do. :)
