Stargate SG-1: Season 9/8.5.05

Browder is a regular now, Black is nearing the end of a 5 or 6 episode stint until Amanda Tapping (Carter) is back form maternity leave.
Are they any good in the show? Do I need to watch previous seasons to have any clue what is going on?

I think they are great. And now is a good time to come into the show because of all the changes. All you have to know is that we have been going through the Stargate for eight years fought the Gou'ld and won.

The Gou'ld had used Jaffa as there warriors and they rose up against the Gou'ld and are now trying to form a Jaffa nation which is diffcult because the Gou'ld fought each other and many Jaffa look at each other as enemies.

The ancients built the gates and look like we do they became higher beings and some of them have a prime directive about interfering with the lower planes but it looks like some of them went bad and are now the new bad guys.

It really is a fresh start though watching the old episodes would be fun they were good too. They run them on Mondays or netflix them.

I like this new season a lot. Though it might just be the Vala character.

Also, I think I'm in love with Claudia Black.

Oh, well. I'm sure the plots of future episodes will absolutely require silly technobabble explanations/solutions by some tepid looking grandmotherly blonde. Good thing Amanda Tapping is returning. :(

I don't really like the Vala character and I hope they get rid of her soon. I've nothing against the actress, just the character. I am glad, however, that Jackson is not being fooled by her tricks, even if he started to fall for the "poor me" thing in his quarters before catching himself.

Then again, I never thought anyone as annoying as McKay would work as a series regular either.

Ah, but was that merely a ruthless attempt to manipulate Jackson, or did she slip a little truth into her act to find out how Jackson (who's opinion she seems to care about) would react? Or, maybe the psychological analysis struck a little too close to home, so she reacted by "striking back" and defusing the situation. (In accordance with Daniel's "afraid to form real emotional bonds" theory.)

I thought it was some of both, honestly.

Yeah, but I didn't think so before Atlantis. I found him amusing in small doses but figured he'd become horribly annoying as a regular character. I was wrong.

That is what I find to be so great about the scenes between the two of them that she can't pull anything over on Daniel. I think that is one reason she finds him so fascinating he is not like the other men she has met and been able to mantipulate.

There is a lot of chemistry between the two actors and they play well of each other.
