I don't think it's going to happen. Remember the conversation about the widowed scientist before the "paradise" planet? She was into him because he was obviously a good catch and single 'through no fault of his own'. She wants a man that's got a solid track record of being a good boyfriend/lover/spouse.
Eli is a classical nerd, with little to no experience around women. He's still pining after Chloe, long after she firmly pegged him in the friend-category.
I wouldn't be surprised to see James end up with someone on the ship, but I don't think it's going to be Eli.
She reminds me of a couple of my friends -- they want men who are already 'trained'. They don't want to have to teach someone how to be a good boyfriend/spouse, so they tend to look for someone with at least one long-term relationship in their past...
Of course, as soon as it happened I knew it wasn't real, and I was suspicious beforehand, because it didn't seem like Scott would sleep with her and Chloe both.
