STARGATE UNIVERSE #2:Aftermath/Season 2/2010

The guy who sat in the chair did give him a bit of useful info, though whether that was new info to Rush or if he was just dredging it up from his subconscious if up for debate.

If they're part of his psyche, why do they only appear in the control room?

Because Destiny's bridge is where the crux of Rush's dilemna plays out. He wants to control the ship, he also wants to save everyone and keep them safe, he doesn't trust the competence of anyone else on board, but yet he's becoming increasingly aware he can't do it alone.

Rush himself questions whether his visions are a part of his own psyche or perhaps some manifestation of ancient technology from when he sat in the chair . . . . but the two aren't mutually exclusive.

I think the manifestations of Rush's wife and the first guy who sat in the chair are a part of Rush's own psychosis, they are aspects of Rush's own psyche. Notice how they always play devil's advocate, they never actually give him new info or insight on how to run the ship.

Yeah I think so too. That's why Rush's wife doesn't give him any technical advice, she's his conscience. He should actually start listening to her.

Really, Rush needs to tell at least Young and Wray about the bridge so they can start showing the other more competant crew members how to run things. It'll probably happen eventually, but really Rush needs to do it now, since he can't run everything. Two things we'll probably see when the others do get to the bridge:

-Rush and Young will argue/fight over the captain's chair. Wray might insist on sitting in it instead.

-Eli will start geeking out at one of the stations. Yup.

In some of the previews, we learn that the crew does eventually learn of the bridge and it becomes a major location for the story. How and when Rush spills the beans should prove interesting, as should Young's reactions to the news . . .

Young's reaction will probably not be good. He probably won't maroon Rush again, that caused him trouble last time. If he has any sense though, he and Wray, and possibly Telford as well, should find some way of punishing Rush. I wonder how many of the crew might blame Riley's death on Rush.
