WOIN Starship Construction Questions: Point Defenses

The text instructs "Total the ship’s point defense points and divide by the ship class." - however, there is a DEFENSE column in the table. What is this value used for?

It might make the table easier to understand if CU and CPU columns were "/Point" as well.

The DEFENSE column is the aforementioned points which you will be totalling.

The CU and CPU columns are per item, like the rest of the book. I can see where the confusion arises - it's the "Cost/Point" heading on the cost column. It would be clearer as just "Cost" as it's per item.

OH, so fore each point defense weapon I buy, I get a +DEF bonus for each one bought? So with a DEF rating of 3, per PDW, I buy 10, I have 30 points then divide by hull class?
