D&D 5E Starter Set Resting

I could be remembering wrong but I thought the designers said they weren't trying to quibble over every corner case situation and just let tables /dms make their rulings since accounting for every corner case would just add to rules bloat. And this is for just one level that will zoom by.
That said it is first level for it is a corner case that has the potential to come up a lot.

Regardless it is funny:D

Of course maybe surviving first level separates the commoners from adventurers!!!

Personally, I kinda like the idea that low level characters have to earn the right to have extra healing.
Really, they should hit 2nd level after four or five encounters, so it's not a huge delay. Some groups will hit level 2 before they take their first long rest and the problem will never be seen.

Based on the Live game, if 2-3 goblins have a chance to TPK your party I'm fine with a 5 minute workday at 1st.

Level 1 goes by pretty fast. If it made it so you couldn't heal at all it would be a problem.

Yes, that's true. Most characters will hit level two at around the same time they get their first long rest. I can see people even possibly believing it was intended to be as is. I doubt it was, though.

LOL. Isn't pretty easy to understand the intention? This isn't MtG.

The rules also don't say I shouldn't DM naked. My poor players...
(First it was talk-like-a-pirate day, now we are being subjected to DM-naked day? My players are not gonna like it.)
