Starting Keep on the Shadowfell or waiting?

Can you hold out?

I may end up 'test running' it with pregens, but I'm sure when it comes to actually playing it properly it'll be new characters all the way for everyone.

I'm also potentially going to have some new players (or players coming back to the game) so it's likely that going through everything will help them.

My original plan was to start off right away, but since we play on Wednesdays:

21st of May: Champions League Final (The Superbowl of soccer)
28th of May: Last 3.5 game
4th of June: Wife's B-day and our anniversary, so no gaming...

So, seems the gods have decided that I should wait for the core books before I start. Although, I am not taking any chances, so just in case KotS sucks, I am currently converting Castle Whiterock, so that I have a backup ready.

How is Castle Whiterock, anyway? I was considering a conversion of either Scarred Lands, Goodman's Aereth (sp?) or the Wilderlands from Necro as a template for my 4e campaign. Castle Whiterock looks pretty big, but is it just a vast dungeon with some extra set pieces?

There's just something you miss out with pregens. It seems more... fake. With June 6th so close, we'll wait. I'll read over the adventure and see if I want to run it or gut it and we'll start up on the 7th with a session for making characters and the like. Besides, I have two games left to wrap up my 3.5 campaign and its going to be EPIC.

I'm not going to buy the preview module, but if someone in my group does I'm definitely in. We're in the middle of Undermountain right now, so we'll probably not only wait for the rulebooks but at least a few weeks after before starting up a 4e game.

I'll more than likely wait until the Core books come out, though I fear a combination of WoW and pure laziness has nearly consumed my gaming group. :(

I wish I could find a really good gaming group...sniff...sniff.

If only I played frequently enough that we could get most of the way through the adventure before the core books, but I doubt I'll even get a game in, so there's no point, might as well wait.

Playing it the first Thursday night after it drops.

We've got three people who want to DM the sucker, so I predict a dance-off.

Do the people who do not want to DM have to witness that?! I hope not....

Do shots until their is only one standing!

We already started. :P Last Saturday we did characters made from the PHB Lite, and played for about three hours with intros to the town I made up (which has this keep up in the hills... hmmm....) and then started some 'filler' plots that I plan to weave into my KotS run.

So I voted pregens with rerolls even though really its PHB lite then rerolls.

I think I'll get it and run it for my one group. It is unlikely they will switch over to 4E (my other group is going to though) but at least they can get a test drive of it.
