Starting small in the Realms...

I WANT SHADOWDALE!!! :)

At least, one can hope. :) There really isn't to me a more iconic town for the Realms, and if possible Elminster isn't bopping around in the new setting, it's going to NEED some heroes.

It's a shot in the dark but... Nesme.
It's popular from the R.A. Salvatore fiction, it was in the Demon Stone video game, and Salvatore went out of his way to raise it from the ashes after utterly destroying it in a previous book.

Also, Nesme has always been a POL location. On the edge of the Troll Moors, surrounded by enemies, and even the path to Silverymoon being extremely dangerous for large, well-armed caravans.

You mean, once something happens somewhere, that's it? You can't have anything else to do?

I like Phlan. I don't expect it'll be the FR "base town" (too big), I really do hope they revisit the Moonsea Region and Phlan gets some attention.

In Phlan's case... yes. It's an invention for the Gold Box computer games, and it had its story sufficiently told there.

Cheers!

Maybe not Shadowdale, but it should be one of the Dales. They are the heartlands of the Realms.

I think it'll be somewhere in the Western Heartlands. The wilderness and variety of terrain in that part of the core realms is very interesting for what PoL seems to be about.

I don't know about its treatment in late 2e or 3e products, but the town of Scournubel seems like a good candidate.

Other likely candidate could be Daggerford. Under Illefarn essentially was PoL and a stand alone setting.

Hell, I want Tilverton back as home base. It's what I used in my 2e campaign set there and it was a perfect location for adventures- at the crossroads of the dalelands, cormyr, and anauroch. But then they just had to kill off everyone there in 3e. Bah...

I haven't fully decided on whether to buy the book or not. However, the fact it includes a detailed town is a major plus for me.

It will be interesting to compare it to Saltmarsh, which showed (to me at least) just how insane a 3rd edition town could be if you followed the class levels by population guidelines.

I'd also like the town to be somewhere in the Dales. I think that region could do "points of light" extremely well. Its also a region which always struck me as pretty accessible to new DMs, as its a straightforward and familiar type of fantasy setting, at least in my opinion.

And they could have Elminster's grave there, to show they were serious about killing off the chosen :) .

I'd wet my pants if it was Hills Edge *campaignsthere* but I'll bet it's something on the coast, rather than inland. Not that that narrows it down a lot.
