Static Shock + Aegis of Shielding

I'm currently playing around with a hybrid Swordmage/Artificer concept. Can anyone think of a reason why Aegis of Shielding and Static Shock wouldn't stack? It seems to me that with a decent Constitution, I can pretty much neuter any enemy I mark with the Aegis. With a Con score of 16, I can effectively stick them with a -2 to attack and a -11 to damage, quasi-at-will, at level 1.

Is this legal? And for the DMs out there, how likely would it be for you to call bull on this tactic?

It's absolutely legal.

Also, it makes you a huge target.

But it's not a terrible combination.

Well, you do have to hit with the At Will. You also need to be able to use an Immediate Action, so you can't be stunned, dazed, etc.

I'm not big on hybrids, but that might not be a bad choice for the out-of-class At Will that Half-Elves get, if for some reason you chose to make your Swordmage a Half-Elf.
