Steaks - Steak sauce, Ketchup, Rubs or none of the above?

Salt & pepper, maybe a rub, side of mushrooms if at all possible. Steak sauce only if the steak requires that much help. Catsup is for burgers and fries (and never, ever for hot dogs.)

Porterhouse I often grill, slice into strips, drizzle with olive oil and squirt a touch of fresh lemon on each bite before I eat it. Heaven.

Strip steaks are great with roquefort on top. Or pan-seared with a red wine reduction sauce. I've had bernaise on them as well, also very good.

A good piece of meat doesn't need sauce, but it's nice sometimes.

When I prepare steak, I let it marinate in Jack Daniels overnight.

When I'm getting close to being hungry, I'll get our our George Foreman family sized grill, and let it heat up for about two minutes. Then I'll take out t the steak, add a little salt and plenty of pepper to both sides and let it cook.

Perfection. I then add a nice premade salad to to it to make it a meal.

One of the most profoundly embarrassing skeleton's in my families closet -- when I met my wife, she was putting ketchup on tacos. Now she only takes Pace Picante sauce. I'm still trying to work her up to Cholula's -- my little Mexican mistress with the wooden-topped bottle.

I hate ketchup.

When my mother makes tacos, I put ketchup on them; if I eat tacos anywhere else, I eat them plain or with tabasco sauce.

I don't know why.

As far as steaks, give me a good steak with some teriyaki sauce for dip. But as many have said, a really good steak needs nothing.

I used to put ketchup on steak, but I lost the taste. Even cocktail sauce tastes better with steak than ketchup does now. A-1 is pretty good; I prefer BBQ sauce, but the only sauce is the kraft crap, which counts for sauce as much as milk does.

I really just want a good BBQ sauce; thick, sweet, smoky, dark red, and delicious of course. Until I find it, I will keep seeking. Sweet Baby Ray's sauce is pretty good, but not close enough to what I seek.

And I LOVE FRY SAUCE!!! I was spoiled on that stuff when I lived in Washington. I think that contributed to my now less frequent use of ketchup; they don't know of Fry Sauce in California, so I have to make my own, with varying levels of success.

I like Lloyd's BBQ sauce. Then again, it's even better on ribs. Forget a steak, gimme a rack of ribs any day!

I agree Lloyd's is excellent, and much better on ribs. But I am also of the opinion one should taste the steak before adding to it, good meat should not be ruined with other crap.

I... I can't imagine steak with ketchup. And I like ketchup. :o

I take a good steak plain, or with some salt and pepper. I do like A-1, though; it goes well on a fair or worse steak.

The real bomb, though, is grilled onions. MMMMMM!
