...so you have only the three modules (all very good, though you may notice some design issues with the antagonist). the website, and Lock and Load: an IK Character Primer for setting details.

Hey, don't forget the swishy and crunchy Monsternomicon!

I'd love Space: 1889 d20. I'd pick that sucker up in a heartbeat.
yeah, it's on my list of "games to convert to d20 sometime in the next year or two."

i doubt we'll ever see an official d20 version though. :(

here's a question: how many of these steampunk settings and sourcebooks don't mix in magic as well?

i really love the steampunk genre, but i don't particularly care for settings where steampunk technology and magic are mixed together. something like Castle Falkenstein doesn't hold my interest, whereas something that was more like the "scientific romances" of Verne, Wells, and Doyle would be right up my alley.

i like my steampunk to be just "steam". :D

as far as roleplaying goes, the closest i've seen is a handful of Marcus Rowland's Forgotten Futures games, and of course, Space: 1889. i'd really love something d20, though...

Iron Kingdoms does mix it and from everything I seen does it very well. It really is steamJACK more than steamPUNK, jack meaning machine.

You're right. I was remiss.

Oh, about Steampunk, with no magic-- FORBIDDEN Kingdoms does include magic, but it almost seems an after thought. None of the base classes have magic, though the "clergy" does have some minor supernatural benefits. You have to take PrCs to get magic. As a result the game works very well without magic at all.

Edit: Sorry about that. I wrote Iron when I mean Forbidden in the section above.

Is that Lock and Load info? Don't they have regular clerics, wizards, etc. anymore? I'm liking this setting more and more all the time! :D

Really, though, IK isn't steampunk per se -- it's fantasy with some steampunk elements. Which is probably more along my tastes for a game than pure steampunk anyway. Although I would jump all over a Space:1889 d20! :D

see, i'm just the opposite. i have very little interest for steampunk with fantasy trappings like wizards and elves. i just want my etherships and canal Martians! :D

We've been working on Steam-Trains & Sorcery for quite a while now, and it is really taking shape, and should be complete within the next few months. It is designed to mix technology with a fantasy setting, but it will certainly give you plenty of information to base a non-magical game around, and indeed that is one of the possibilities for a companion book.

Here is the blurb from our website (the link is in my sig).

Steam-trains and Sorcery: A D20 System sourcebook giving rules for advancing a fantasy setting into the steam age. Designed to be fully compatible and balanced with core rules, and to work equally well whether it is the basis of a campaign or added to an existing one. It will include a full featured rule set on how to handle technology, both real-world and "mad", including how it combines or conflicts with magic, as well as new classes such as the Gadgeteer and Medic, new skills, feats, spells, prestige classes, and equipment related to the genre. It will also be packed with information on how to craft a setting using thse rules or update any fantasy setting into this era in a believable and interesting manner, and plenty of good ideas about plots, organizations, and role-playing options in such a setting. Aiming for release in summer 2003. In addition, we will be producing several of spin-off products, including adventures and expansion books using the same basic rules set but approaching the subject matter from another angle.
