Great, so we are going to pay $29.99 or whatever the price is going to be and have NO IDEA if what we are getting is any good.

That isn't a confirmation of any new changes at all. That literally says that the DVDs will be the Special Edition, since that's what GL always says is what the movies were MEANT to be. So that's as he sees them.

The SE's aren't what George always meant them to be. He stated in several interviews when they were released in 1997 that he was about 50% happy with the originals, and the changes in the SE's made it so that he was about 80% happy.

He was originally going to release the SE's Memorial Day weekend on the exact anniversary of the first Star Wars, but bumped it up to January so as not to compete with and take box office away from buddy Steven Spielberg's Memorial Day release "Jurassic Park: The Lost World." So they lost five months of updating the films.

Basically he stated that the SE's made the original trilogy watchable for him. But apparently they still have a little way to go before they're the definitive versions he envisioned.

I stand corrected.

...however, that comment from Steve Sansweet doesn't really confirm or deny anything. Well, except for proving(again) that its the SEs(or a form of) that's being released.

You're right Sansweet's comment doesn't officially confirm it, but it does strongly hint that we'll probably see some new changes. Otherwise why didn't he just say "They'll be the Special Editions."
