Still confused by the character builder.

I have noticed (and this may also be a coincidence), that sometimes if I equip something, save the character, close the character (and sheet) and then reopen the character and 'regenerate' the character sheet, these things fix themselves.

I'm not sure that the CB 'refreshes' the cards and abilities consistently enough.

This. There is a known "bug" that if you have the character sheet open when you make changes, it doesn't update the sheet. So rule of thumb is to always make sure the character sheet isn't open before you make changes. This fixes a lot of the inconsistencies that are generally reported, at least from my anectdotal experience.

For the weapon thing with character builder, when you are on the character sheet area you have to right click the attack or damage workspace, when you do you can edit it for different types of attacks.

Default is unarmed basic, but you can change it to say longsword basic attack, or even an at-will power like cleave and it'll calculate it for you. It ain't perfect because you can't add conditional modifiers to it that you are bound to use all the time (such as power attack).

Here's how i fix it

When you fiddle around with weaps and armor, it usually isn't updated in the sheet.

How to solve it easily , when viewing your character sheet

In the Layouts menu, choose : Reset to default portrait layout (or landscape, which i like best)

And voila, all basic attack/dmg and powers should have the correct weap

Always to a "reset to defaul ... layout" and verify before printing

You do know you can right-click any power and modify which weaps appear on the card ? it's a nifty utility
