Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

The Green Adam

First Post
Can anyone recommend a rules-lite, non-D20 system capable of handling (and handling well) a scifi comedy? I'm in the process of designing one myself, the result of which has been two seperate and somewhat different games ( a Futurama RPG and a Galaxy Quest RPG).

I've come across a few through searches but I thought maybe I'd draw on the vast resources of this most august assembly. :D

Also, heh, does anyone have a link to my old 30 Years of Weird: Unusual Campaigns thread. I wanted to reread it and maybe add a few things.

Thanks,

Tales from the floating vagabond.

xechnao: Tales from the Floating Vagabpnd was indeed cool but the rules were not exactly what I think I'm looking for. Good feel though to be sure.

Mark: Space Opera, while a game I played extensively throughout Junior High, is the antithesis of rules-lite. I appreciate the response though.

I guess I'm looking for something more 'Indie' or freeware oriented.

Dunno. Have you tried "Dying Earth" or "Paranoia"?

Why not just a simple proven rules light system like Savage Worlds?

Many sing the praises of Savage Worlds but the few times I've gotten to read through it its never really wowed me. That said, I don't berlieve I've really given it a thorough look. I'll definitely check it out.

You might consider Mongoose's (or indeed, any ) edition of Paranoia.

Or Toon.

However, IMHO, you can run comedic sci-fi in any sci-fi or generic system with which you feel comfortable- its more a matter of fluff than crunch.
