Stink in Ship's Towers

"The Eel? I swear, if any of you have any dealings with him...!" Captain Pepper is obviously enraged, and turns to you "And if you really are seeking to make business with the Eel, I'd advise you to leave and stop wasting our time. I won't tolerate such business on my ship."

[sblock=Sense Motive DC 15 (Yes, Kathan can read that immediately)]You feel that Captain Peppers anger is real, both at his crew for possibly being in league with that criminal, and at you for possibly seeking business with the criminal, but he seems to suspect that you haven't shown your true colors yet.[/sblock]

[sblock=Sense Motive DC 20]At the mention of the Eel, there is some stir around some of the crew, about half of them. Dusky also seems a bit nervous.[/sblock]

Kenn starts to sweat a little.
If he focuses, he can read someone pretty well...once.
But he can't go casting about at random -- he needs better odds than thirty people on the ship's crew.

Kenn Alyard's sense motive check (1d20+6=7)

Let's turn up the pressure. We've got a few more cards to play before we throw the hand in.

Kenn steps back and speaks very quietly to Kathan and Kuther -- hopefully so nobody else can hear.

"The Eel's partner has a guttural voice with a hiss. I think we've heard it already, but I want to hear everyone aboard speak to be sure. We them to confess, and I think we can bluff them into doing it.
And we'd better come clean with the captain."

Kathan nods slightly. He moves over to Captain Pepper and says, " At this point I'm really thinkin' you need to step aside just a moment to hear me out. I'm thinkin' I can clear this messy business right up for you. "

When he has the Captain out of reach of eavesdroppers he says, " I think you're gettin' we're not here to do business with the Eel. We're here to flush him out and take him in. What we really be needin' from you is to just go along with our little charade, trust us, and I think we can get your traitor to 'fess up and reveal 'imself. "

" What kind of story do you have in mind for me to spin to draw him out? " he asks on returning.

"We don't need a story yet. We need them all to talk. If they'll all say their names, ranks, and places of birth, we just need to listen for hisses. That should cut our suspects down quite a bit. After that, we tell them what happened two nights ago, then what happened one night ago, then talk about how nasty Sharn's prisons are.
Between us, one of us should find somebody sweat more. But get them to talk first."

Khuther has been standing quiet where he is excpecting his friends to do the talking and thinking where he dont have any skills. But one thing he do know is to positionhimself before something is about to happend. He walks quietly to a higer place where he can fast reach both sides of the ship and have as much of the deck in sight. As he walkes he tries to hear his aquatic friend is nearby.

The captain seems to continue steaming, and appears impatient. The half-orc approaches him and says "Ssir, if they believe the Eel iss on board, I can give them a tour of the sship to convince them. Otherwise, we might run into sschedule problems."

At this time, you have heard pretty much every of the sailors. Some have guttural voices, some have slight whistles, but no one seems to combine them other that Dusky.

[sblock=OOC/Sense Motive]
I don't think you can aid another on Sense Motive. I take 10 for my usual 16 though. Glad we're back on track though. Sometimes I'm not quite sure if everyone is waiting for me when I'm waiting for someone else.
